Somehow Still Alive emerges onto the scene with a fresh sound fusing Pop music melodies with melodic Metal riffs. Their style has been said by many to be the next big thing in music. Many local newspapers, and magazines have jumped on the SSA bandwagon with interviews, and photoshoots. Local San Pedro newspaper Random Lengths named SSA as one of the best bands to come out of San Pedro, and one of the best live shows of 2008. SSA began in 2004 when Lead Vocalist Lucas Valenzuela created a solo-rap album under the name "Lukedogg", called Somehow Still Alive. He felt the programmed drums, rythym, and lead parts should be performed by live instruments. He auditioned musicians, and based on the reaction of SSA'a first show, they went full time. SSA played tons of local shows in 2008, in cities such as, Barstow, Downey, Apple Valley, Santa Ana, Yucaipa, Torrance, Lomita, San Pedro, Harbor City etc. SSA has also played some huge shows including: A packed album release party at The Whisky in Hollywood, Opening for Alien Ant Farm at The Pangea Music Festival at Hollywood Park in 2008, opening for Eek a Mouse, NOFX, Hed PE, and Kottonmouth Kings at The So Cal Rock Fest at Hollywood Park in 2008. SSA's debut album, ?Afterall?, was released on Sunstone Records in April of 2008, and is internationally distributed online by The Orchard. SSA hopes to take their music to the next level, and tour the world with their music.
