sixsidedbox was the brainchild of Salt Lake City, Utah's Peter Markowski and Dave Chisholm. Friends since they were kids, Peter and Dave started recording songs that they had written over a long summer break. They then started piecing together their band of local musicians from around the city: an established Jazz/Funk/Country/Rock bass player Doug Wright (who now lives in NYC); an accomplished guitarist Willis Clow (now in Los Angeles); Ryan Sinner, who was the only unestablished player; Andrew Kuhnhausen, a saxophonist and keyboard player.
With Peter on vocals and acoustic guitar and Dave on a heavily processed trumpet, sixsidedbox's short success was in no small part due to their diverse, lush, dramatic and exaggerated sound. It was like a wall of sound.
Their first LP release, "I'm Glad We Had This Conversation" was also their last. It covers the spectrum of rock from a heavy , emotional "Wicked Disguise" to the epic, dramatic finale, "Angles Aren't Cute Pudgy Babies", to the bouncy, indie "Trapped in a Box". The band's influences are prominent from their three song writers: Peter, Dave and Andrew; but almost every part of each song was touched by every musician and their incredible talents.
They were working on their 2nd EP before the breakup of the band, the tracks of the EP have not been released although talks have been going on to finish the tracks and release them.
Peter went to form the band Peter and the Darlings with Andrew and Ryan after the breakup, while Dave joined The Brobecks to play keyboards, Willis went to get his Masters Degree at the University of Southern California, and Doug is now a working musician in NYC.
