Sir Millard Mulch (real name: Carl King) is an esoteric supervillain music composer / author / essayist / artist whose cult-following and / or list of secret admirers includes Trey Spruance (Mr. Bungle / Faith No More / Secret Chiefs 3) Steve Vai, Mike Keneally, Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, Ocean Machine, Vai), Morgan Agren (Zappa's Universe, Dweezil Zappa), and Dave Meros of Spock's Beard. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater even purchased one of his albums recently.
Eric Johnson, however, did not. His tedious-to-create-and-consume music and essays have inspired and angered countless people on virtually every continent for over a decade.
His Triple-Disc Concept Album, "How To Sell The Whole F#@!ing Universe To Everybody, Once And For All!" was released on Trey Spruance's Mimicry Records in July 2005. Prepare for and expect a whopping four-hour long concept album that includes guest appearances from Nils Frykdahl (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum), Mark Critchley (Itch), Dave Meros (Spock's Beard), Paul Mazurkiewicz (Cannibal Corpse), Morgan Agren (Frank Zappa, Dweezil Zappa), and Larry Boothroyd (Victims Family).
On his records, Sir Millard Mulch constructs an imaginary rock orchestra of super-hero virtuoso musicians integrating the greatest strengths of human creativity and computerized perfection. On many compositions he shamelessly employs MIDI sequencing and digital editing to create arrangements that would otherwise be impossible to perform -- not to hide mistakes like other producers do, but to express his ideas clearly and with no limitations.
Although this enigmatic guitarist / bassist / keyboardist / vocalist / programmer / composer / producer regularly works with a brain-trust of sometimes anonymous, sometimes imaginary co-writers and artists and jumps at the chance to exploit anyone's rare talents -- he often opts to perform and record entire orchestrations by himself. His motto? "No Band, No Band Problems." His principal instrument and the primary tool he employs is Steinberg's Cubase, which he has used exclusively for a decade.
He conquered the Art of Music in 2001.
He currently lives in a rental car in Los Angeles, CA.
