Sara Thomsen is an American singer-songwriter based in rural northwestern Wisconsin near the Twin Port cities of Duluth (MN)/Superior (WI). Sara grew up in the midwest city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After graduating from Augustana College in her hometown, she spent a year volunteering at a retreat center in the Cascade Mountains of Washington (state) where she penned some of her earliest songs.
She moved from the remote mountains across the country and lived for a number of years in New York City, during which time she produced her first CD, "Arise," (1995). Sara returned to the midwest in 1998 and moved into a life by the shores of Lake Superior in the city of Duluth, Minnesota. She has since produced three additional solo albums: Fertile Ground (1999), By Breath (2003), and Everything Changes (2008).
In addition to her solo work, Sara has produced many multimedia performances incorporating dancers, poets, painters, storytellers, puppeteers and other musicians. Sara is the co-artistic director of the singing trio "Three Altos" and is the founder and artistic director of the "Echoes of Peace Choir," a non-audition community choir in Duluth, Minnesota, with a repertoire of world music and a membership of 75+ voices.
