The gents of S' (s-apostrophe, the plural possessive) live in Ann Arbor, MI. Their debut album, called "I was Born in the Dollar Store" was released on July 10, 2006, featuring 7 tracks including "That Man is not an Astronaut," "Yellow Fever!" and the title track "I was Born in the Dollar Store." The album artwork was designed by long-time S' friend, Danica Novgorodoff. S' have received national acclaim from NPR.org, Salon.
om's Audiofile, American Songwriters Magazine and The Great American Song Contest, with NPR stating, "Dollar store centers around a loose narrative about a robot and a Plural Possesive who wanders around things ranging from pick-up lines to death," Audiofile chimed in with, "Check out the percolating Afro-pop vibe of "No Sleep till Nairobi" by S'. The gentle, rolling guitar lines and soulful sax evoke the dreamy feeling of jet lag after a long plane trip," and TGASC and ASM awarded S' with Honorable Mentions in their annual lyric-writing contests.
