Andy Ballantyne Large Ensemble

Andy Ballantyne is a Canadian saxophonist, composer and arranger based in Toronto. In addition to performing with such noted jazz artists as Don Thompson, Dave Young and Rob McConnell's Boss Brass, Andy leads the 11-piece Andy Ballantyne Large Esemble (ABLE). Their debut recording "The Sum of the Parts" was released in 2007 and features a who's-who of Canadian jazz artists including David Braid, Kelly Jefferson and Kevin Turcotte. With influences ranging from Charles Mingus to Aaron Copeland to Dave Holland, Andy's compositions can best be described as omnivore jazz.
