Ron Jones

Ron Jones (born Kansas City, Kansas 7 July 1954) is an American composer who has written music for TV shows, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, Duck Tales, American Dad!, and Family Guy. He composed the theme for Nickelodeon's The Fairly OddParents with series creator Butch Hartman, and the music for the show's pilots. Despite critically acclaimed work for Star Trek: The Next Generation, Jones was fired during the show's fourth season by producer Rick Berman after repeated disagreements over how to approach dramatic scoring on the show.

Following that, Jones criticized the kind of music used under Berman's stewardship of the franchise, which he felt was "less melodic" and "more pad-like."

For the 100th episode of Family Guy, "Stewie Kills Lois", Jones repeated his music from the popular Next Generation two-parter "The Best of Both Worlds".

He recently received an Emmy nomination for Best Original Song, "We Only Live to Kiss Your Ass" from Family Guy, and Outstanding Music Composition for a Series for the Family Guy episode, "Lois Kills Stewie", which happens to follow "Stewie Kills Lois".
