Rick Droit is a touring musician and songwriter who has made significant early contributions to the Americana music scene helping to flush out the Genre into the open, alongside bands such as Son Volt, Wilco, The Jayhawks and Old 97's. Droit has performed both as a solo acoustic artist and with electric indie bands, his influences range from old time Swing and Bluegrass that he was exposed to by his musical family who performed these styles to Pop and Classic Rock (Zeppelin, Bob Seger, Tom Petty, CCR ) and elements of Irish Celtic, Folk, Country and Texas Blues can also be found throughout his songs.
In 1999 his song "Sleepy Hollow" reached the number 3 position on the Internet Indie Music charts and remained in the top 10 for the next two years, most recently he achieved the #1 spot on the Acoustic Rock charts for his song "Turning Wild" and his music has been praised by celebrities, fans and press alike.
Currently he is finishing a new full length CD with a Galaxy of special guests culled from his friends and peers, the album incudes 14 original songs and in addition to Rick, features such talents as Sara Hickman, Mark Hallman, Warren Hood, Christopher Yarrow, Kristin DeWitt, Laura Freeman, Theo Bick, Tami Griffin, Helena Nash, Erin Jo Enochs, Brian Standefer, and Marietta Robards
