Richard Flemming is a rock band from Canton, OH. They were formed in the Summer of 2004 by Hank Whitaker (Guitars/Vocals), Dave Queen (Guitars/Vocals), Justin Luntz (Bass), and Michael Hetrick (Drums), then all students at Western Reserve Academy. Richard Flemming quickly gained popularity from their intense live acts, originally composed primarily of cover songs from a variety of sources (The Rolling Stones, The Dismemberment Plan, Explosions in the Sky, Blur, The Kinks, The Who, Weezer, and many others). With each show, Flemming began to introduce more and more original songs.

Flemming went on a temporary semi-hiatus the following year as Hank went to college. Performances were far and few in between, but the songwriting became more and more intense. In the summer of 2007, Flemming moved onto a farm in West Virginia to record the ten songs that would become their eponymous debut album. They released this album independently in August of 2007.
