Rhythm Ruckus has been called "the closest thing to Slayer that Vermont hip-hop will ever see." From an inauspicious complex nestled in the abdomen of Vermont's lush green mountains, Doc C and Scribe1 dispense serrated infotainment from the barren, shrieking maw of Generation Dead. MSNBC's "Current Magazine" says "their gritty, experimental music represents a re-emergence of raw, socially conscious hip-hop." Rhythm Ruckus' live shows are legendary, from their first proper gig (opening for Ol' Dirty Bastard) to their most recent sold-out local appearance. Their new LP "Backyard Farmacology" is a sprawling meditation on rural existence, confusion, rebellion, depravity, joy, and ruin. It includes guest appearances from Kool G Rap, Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox, Sticman of Dead Prez, and Cottonmouth TX. The album's surreal and striking cover was created by Marvel Comics storyboard artist and underground hip-hop mainstay Breez Evahflowin'.
KIND WORDS
"With a healthy dose of old-school vibe, these Vermont originals, Doc C and Scribe 1, create textures not quite like most rap. Their sly sampling and easy way with words appeals even among the non-rap-inclined." THE VALLEY ADVOCATE
"Somewhere at the intersection of the Beastie Boys and the Green Mountain Boys, Rhythm Ruckus is carving its niche." BRATTLEBORO REFORMER
"Their aggressive, street-conscious beats and rhymes are clearly Wu-effected and their energetic performing style would distinguish them from your average hip-hop group." THE CORNELL SUN
"Scribe1 is one of those MCs that when you hear, you drop to your knees with your palms pressed and give thanks to the heavens that rappers like this still exist." BEAT THE BRAKES OFF YO ASS
"What other rappers wear a Dinosaur Jr. t-shirt in a video set amongst nature?" SELFPORTRAIT.NET ? EDITOR'S PICK
"Black Metal bands like Darkthrone and Gorgoroth take on a staunchly isolationist approach to their music. This pair of rappers seem to have created Hip-Hop's answer to this lifestyle." VEGA B GOOD BAND GUIDE
