Foundation and First Highlights
PUEBLO CRIMINAL arose in 2006 out of the hardcore formation CHLAMBR?D consisting of five members. Due to a musical reorientation towards ska-punk with influences of reggae and Latin music, the band has been augmented steadily. In 2003, drummer and percussionist Neyman joined bassist Victor T, guitarist Viero, singer Chriss, and organist Pipo. Inspired by successful concerts (e.g. Abart, Volkshaus, and Bambole Open Air) and the new members alto and baritone saxophonist MR Sax and trombonist Gabriela, PUEBLO CRIMINAL set an ambitious goal: the realization of a professionally produced CD.
BANG GANG and Red Led Studios Madrid
After some first experiences at the Basel City Studios in 2001 with CHLAMBR?D, PUEBLO CRIMINAL started the recordings of their debut album BANG GANG at the band?s own studio in Schwerzenbach ZH, Switzerland. With active assistance from the famous Spanish producer Tony L?pez (e.g. Ska-P) all tracks were recorded by the end of August 2009. After this long and intensive work, PUEBLO CRIMINAL went to the excellent Red Led Studios in Madrid, Spain, where the likes of Tina Turner, U2, and Ska-P had already done their best. In December 2009, the band received the longed-for CD, which had been mixed and mastered by Tony and audio engineer Rub?n Su?rez. In December 2009 and at the beginning of 2010, the band was joined by trumpeter Sam and second guitarist Millo.
Concert with Ska-P and Album Release Show
Driven by the release of BANG GANG in October 2010 as well as the implementation of a juicy job for Ska-P, PUEBLO CRIMINAL focused on live concerts. After the intensive preparatory and start-up stage, the band enjoyed its performance at the open air SKAarau and played several gigs in the greater Zurich area. In November 2010, PUEBLO CRIMINAL was invited for a small tour of D?sseldorf and Bochum. Mainly the concert at Eulachhalle in Winterthur as a support act of Ska-P represents a milestone for the audience, fans and the history of PUEBLO CRIMINAL. A few days later, on the 7th of December 2010, the album release show of BANG GANG and the victory of the 4th Band-Cover-Contest at the traditional Mascotte club in Zurich got overwhelming reactions.
Tour of Costa Rica and Heitere Open Air
During a successful summer 2011 with lots of shows at dozens of open air festivals as at Switzerland's famous Heitere Open Air, Imagine Festival in Basel, and the legendary club Krempel with The Locos, the band toured through Costa Rica for two weeks in July. Besides numerous interviews for television, radio and print media, the band played seven unforgettable concerts on the American continent.
Future and Goals
Until March 2012, further concerts have already been confirmed. For instance, PUEBLO CRIMINAL and the well-known Talco from Italy will rock Zurich again. At present, PUEBLO CRIMINAL is working on new songs, which will be produced together with Tony L?pez at the Powerplay Studios towards the end of 2012.
