Creating highly textured music honing on the subtleties of detail, Peret von Sturmer, a.k.a. Peret Mako, has always added nuance to the dynamics produced through his unique mixing techniques. Having studied jazz saxophone since the age of 11, Peret Mako's musical path later led him to the Canberra School of Music and Sydney techno scene. Starting his DJ career in 1995, his work covered hip-hop labels like Mo-Wax and Clear, placing him alongside talents such as Simon Caldwell and Ken Cloud.
He spent two years as co-resident with Illpikle at the Globe, going on to support Charles Webster, Chris Duckenfield, Theo Parrish, DJ Krush, Mix Master Mike, Blackalicious, Cash Money and Craze, as well as playing saxophone for Jamie Lidell's live show in Sydney. As a remix artist, Peret has disassembled songs for Swag, Little Beasties, Deepchild, Kidzen, Prop, Nick Thayer and Multiball (his remix for the latter being nominated for a DMA award). After attending the Redbull Music Academy in Rome in 2004, he set to work mixing his debut album 'The Devil's In The Detail' -- the result of years of practice and interaction with music. The influences of hip-hop, techno, jazz and deep house -- amongst many others -- are woven into his quintessential personalized style as can be heard on the 2008 record.
