Pan Morigan is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada. Her music is influenced by Jazz, American Folk, Greek, and Irish Traditional music styles. She calls her songwriting style 'music-work of the imagination,' or 'conjure music.' Her lyrics have been described as 'Canadian style,' poetic, lyrical, moody and surreal. Her vocal range is large, and her stage performances have been called both passionate and humorous. She is a producer. She sang and co-produced, with guitarist Ben Butler, the double-album and radio special, Castles of Gold for Public Radio International.
She was the producer on her new release, Wild Blue. Live, she appears either solo, or with a band, performing on a wide array of instruments such as violin, guitar, banjo, hunter's harp, and accordion. She has worked with guitar virtuosos Ben Butler and Marc Shulman, bassists Lincoln Schleiffer and Richard Hammond, and percussionists, Glen Velez, Tony Vacca, and Michel Moushabek. She has toured as part of Bobby McFerrin's improvisational vocal group, Voicestra (in 2004,) and has written music and improvisational pieces for over 25 theater productions as music director of Chrysalis Theater - an NEA award-winning, experimental theater company. In 2007 she won the Massachusetts Cultural Council fellowship in music composition for her original songs. Grammy winning producer, Roger Treece, said of her songwriting: ?As both singer and songwriter, her music evokes in me what only a small number of artists ever have. I believe the world needs to hear her music. Her song forms, when heard, will catalyze the next branch of evolutionary development in song-writing.?
