"THE SUN SHINES ON THE BREAK OF NEW DAY" It was the summer of 2004 when Bill and Joe, members of an already established Chicago band, had been discussing the idea of tying to find a way to bring fresh blood to the their music as they were growing frustrated with the path the band was taking. Bill's suggestion was to add friend and former band mate Raphael to the picture. After a few discussions with the members of the band and a few ?trial rehearsals" the decision was made that Raphael was exactly what the band needed and in the fall of 2004 he was asked to join the band.

After a few discussions with the members of the band and a few ?trial rehearsals" the decision was made that Raphael was exactly what the band needed and in the fall of 2004 he was asked to join the band. The newly formed group set their focus on tweaking their sound and writing new material.

It was during this time that the three future members of Outgrowth unconsciously found themselves moving in a different direction than the rest of the band. After rehearsals, the three were staying behind to write new material. The music they were writing was clearly different then what they had been currently playing. After several failed attempts to incorporate this new material into the existing band, Joe had decided it was time for him to leave. With no bass player in the band, the rhythm section was pretty much dead and Bill followed suit shortly after.

Within a matter of days after Bill's departure, Bill, Joe and Raphael got together and decided that they wanted to continue writing together and in the Spring of 2005, Outgrowth was formed.

?A New Life Rises From The Ashes".....

After the formation of Outgrowth, the band spent a solid year writing new material and discovering their ?sound" along the way. The process for the band was very therapeutic, allowing them to express themselves musically and lyrically in a way they had not been able to in some time. Blending familiar styles such as pop, math rock, blues, riff rock and progressive rock, Outgrowth forged a sound very much their own.

As that year drew to an end and the remains of Winter faded with Springs arrival, Outgrowth emerged strong and polished. Having found their sound and ending up with enough material for 2 and half albums, they were ready to enter the recording studio.

Sticking with a general theme that seemed to follow them that past year, ?do things the way we want to do on our terms", Outgrowth decided to handle the recording process themselves. Utilizing their knowledge of pro audio and gear, the band set up a recoding studio using the principles of ?less is more". Using as little studio gear as possible and being their own producers, Outgrowth delivered a recording nothing less than spectacular for a home grown studio.
