Oscar Peterson & Ella Fitzgerald

Oscar Emmanuel Peterson (August 15, 1925 ? December 23, 2007), a Canadian jazz pianist, and Ella Jane Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 ? June 15, 1996), one of the worlds most famous jazz singers, had been performing together for more than 20 years when they recorded this album in 1975. Fitzgerald's voice always worked well with just piano accompaniment, her previous two albums in this vein were 1950's Pure Ella (with Ellis Larkins) and 1960's Ella Fitzgerald Sings Songs from Let No Man Write My Epitaph with Paul Smith. Some say, Peterson's best playing was recorded on this album.
