Okapi Guitars

Okapi Guitars is a collaboration between John Laidler and Bernhard Huber, who met as the guitarists of the Okapi Guitar Band. From 1986 to 1993 the Okapi Guitar Band performed guitar-based African pop music. The group drew their repertoire from recordings of bands from East Africa, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Zaire and Guinea. Based in Sydney, the band also travelled to Melbourne and Brisbane, and many inland towns in New South Wales. The band released a cassette in 1988 and a CD in 1991.
