Although genre-bending is becoming something common these days, never before has any Dutch band interweaved progrock, indie/postrock, krautrock and stonermetal in such an original and organic manner. Together with producer Marcel van de Vondervoort (Astrosoniq, Zeus, Julian Sas), Oceana Company worked on defining their own sound in the Torture Garden Studio, resulting in debut album "For The Boatman."

In between the different recording- and mixsessions, the band did a lot of gigs with a wide range of acts like The Pineapple Thief, US Christmas, Epica, Dozer, Los Natas among others. It proofs that Oceana Company's typical melodies & dynamics, cinematic touch and the use of antique yet charming keyboard instruments (like a vintage mellotron), attracts a broad range of people.
In January 2008 the band generates positive attention in the Dutch media. The selfreleased EP ?Promo 2007? becomes ?Demo of the Month? in FRET Magazine and get's raving reviews. The song ?Trenchfever? gets airplay on national radio and becomes a modest internet hit, reaching nr.1 in the Dutch Indie Chart and ?Hit Of The Week? on Radio Mortale.
The band records the song ?A Real Place? in their own studio, for the compilation album ?Get Loaded 3?. Label interest arises and a deal is closed with SpaceJam Records (ao. Gomer Pyle, Flying Fortress, The Lizst).
In October 2008, debut album ?For The Boatman? sees the light of day, again to high acclaim (OOR, Music Maker ao). Oceana Company gets praised for their originality and strong identity.
The first halve of 2009 mainly existed of promoting the "For The Boatman" album through (festival) gigs, interviews etc. The band was elected for the prestigious "Popronde 2009." During fall the time was spend in the studio, writting and recording new material for their upcoming second album (check the band's myspace for previews).
In 2010 the band will play at the important showcase festival Eurosonic, Groningen and the internationally acclaimed Roadburn Festival in 013, Tilburg.
