Night Rally began with the presentation of an ill-conceived mix-tape given from Devin "Stachely" King (guitar, vocals) to Luke "The Slam Man" Kirkland (drums, vocals) while the two attended college in Santa Fe, NM. Luckily, Kirkland looked past the unfortunate object and the two turned their relationship from dubbing music into making their own. Eventually, they joined with Farhad "Stachely 2" Ebrahimi (bass, vocals) and became Night Rally in early 2003.
Santa Fe proved to be a great environment for developing a rapport with each other, but it failed to provide the thriving music and art scene that the three desired. Based on Ebrahimi's recent tenure at M.I.T., Night Rally packed up and moved to Cambridge, MA in the summer of 2003. Scrapping their previous work, the three--now house-mates--wrote and recorded their 4 song demo The Elegant Look of New, and began their tour of duty in Boston's fledgling basement scene, playing sweaty, energetic shows underground and making friends with other like-minded bands. As basement shows turned into club shows, CD-R demos turned into a 12 inch split E.P. with friends Clickers for the first release on the local Honeypump Records.
A nomination for Best New Boston Band from alt-weekly The Boston Phoenix provided the incentive to enter Headgear Studios in Brooklyn to record a full-length with engineer-producer-wunderkind Chris Moore of Liars/T.V. on the Radio/Yeah Yeah Yeahs fame in August of 2005.
Night Rally recently played their final show July 29th 2006. On that date they also released a full length cd entitled "Preston Family Crest".
