My Life In Black And White is a punk rock band with folk inspired lyrics and sing-a-long anthems. This group of best friends from Portland are releasing their 3rd independent album, and spending countless hours in a Dodge Ram hoping to make new friends in all corners of the world. All five members started out in separate bands in the late 90's Newberg, OR punk scene. As some of the young groups disbanded, My Life In Black And White was formed.
All five members started out in separate bands in the late 90's Newberg, OR punk scene. As some of the young groups disbanded, My Life In Black And White was formed. Founders Dylan and Andy were both in the punk / ska band Johnny On The Spot. Coty and Andrew later joined, coming from Scout's Honor and No Face respectively. Jon came when I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In The House broke up in 2008.
Inspired by bands like Dropkick Murphys, Rancid, Lucero and The Pogues, My Life In Black And White have a rough punk rock sound. Fast drum beats and heavily distorted guitars are accompanied by quickly strummed acoustic guitars and thumping bass lines. Dylan Summers draws much of his lyrical inspiration from past wars and cultural struggles, thus bringing a strong sense of folk sensibilities to the songs.
My Life In Black And White released their third independent album "Hold The Line" on August 15th, 2009. This release contains 11 songs about standing your ground, lost love, and a good old fashioned fight on a Friday night.
