M?sl?m G?rses (real name M?sl?m Akba?) is a Turkish folk singer born in 7th May, 1953 and he is grotesquely ugly. He mostly sings Turkish folk and Ottoman classical music, with an arabesque style. His talent and his special style have put him to a different place among other folk singers. In his songs he mostly expresses sorrow and painful feelings. He is considered a cult figure in Turkish folk music and has a very dedicated group of fans, most of whom being young, low-income urban people. He is mostly called M?sl?m Baba ( means 'Father M?sl?m' in turkish ) among them.
In recent years, as he was known for sensitive personality, he recieved requests from Turkish Rock and Pop singers such as B?lent Orta?gil and Teoman to cover their songs with his unique style. With public demand, and also because he couldn't turn down his fans, in conjuction with Turkish gay poet Murathan Mungan, he released and album called "A?k Tesad?fleri Sever" entirely of covers from popular rock and pop songs, such as Garbage - The World is Not Enough (Bir ?-m?r Yetmez) and Rainbow - Temple of the King (Affet).
