Monte Moir is a songwriter, singer, producer and one of the original members of the innovative R&B group The Time. Monte started in college as a keyboardist and singer in a band called Flyte Tyme, which later became the core of The Time. Monte toured with The Time in the early 80s, eventually going out on his own as a songwriter and producer, working with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis of Flyte Tyme Productions.

As a songwriter and producer, Monte has had a number of hits including Janet Jackson's, ?The Pleasure Principle? (from her Grammy nominated Control CD), Alexander O’Neal's, ?If You Were Here Tonight,? and others.
