"Marlah was a 5-piece rock & roll band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. It's members include Zach Larson and Ryan Tuveson on guitars, Edward Seimon on Bass, drummer Derek Hlavinka, and vocalist Ben Holum. Too heavy for the local indie scene and not heavy enough for the hardcore scene, Marlah find themselves in the middle ground, mixing demanding and intricate guitar riffs with unique vocal styles over a heavy grooving rhythm section, drawing inspiration from bands ranging from The Kinison to Pretty Girls Make Graves.

Formed in 2004, they self-released a three song EP entitled, "The Alexavior Blaise EP" that gained them their initial attention around the Twin Cities. Since then, the band has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with a multitude of nationally touring and signed acts such as The Bronx, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and Rainer Maria. Their high energy live performances are as consuming as they are intense.
Their locally long awaited full-length album "These Curses" takes the inventiveness of indie and mixes it up with some good old fashioned dirty rock. Marlah's goal as a band, and within this record, is to create an interesting and unique sound while challenging themselves to musically, lyrically, and conceptually to compose something new and different in the Twin Cities music scene. They have reinvented themselves on this album, combining passion, creativity, and ambition to accomplish their goal.
The band invites every listener on an exciting and sometimes violent journey through music and words, hoping to set your expectations ablaze. Close your eyes, and take a good goddamn listen."
