Mark James Mason (born December 22, 1981 in Hillsborough Oregon) is an American musican who currently plays in Seven Car Pileup. In high school Mason was in the christian hard rock band Rhana (1999-2000). After High School he attended recording school at Tempe Arizona based Conservatory of Recording Arts and Science. He has spent several years developing a diverse and versatile approach to music performance and engineering that incorporates elements of folk, electronica, metal, and indie rock.
In early 2005 he released the solo acoustic album Sea Stories. Many of the songs on that album were used with Lucky (2005-2006).
After the break up of Lucky Mark Mason and Lucky drummer Mike Vigil joined with Jess Pruitt to form Seven Car Pileup. As the musical group's front man, Mark Mason handles most of the production, guitar performance, writing, and vocals.
He has become known to play guitar with both complicated pedal-board work guitar similar to Dave Navarro of Jayne's Addition to simpler sparse minimalist folk performances similar to Elliott Smith.
