"I have seen over fifteen thousand performers and Aliza Hava is in the top one percent." -Brian Austin Whitney, Founder, Just Plain Folks "So freakin' astonishing in every way...this chick is a powerhouse. She's what you'd call a sister, like Ani DiFranco or Julia Butterfly Hill." -The Chronogram Arts/Culture/Spirit Magazine "Spiritual, socially conscious folk and femme rock...RISE is a ferocious album with mainstream potential." -The Jerusalem Post

Aliza Hava is not your typical singer/songwriter. This fiery songstress is firmly dedicated to using the healing power of music to inspire personal and global transformation. A breathtaking performer, her introspective, well-crafted lyrics explore the deepest levels of love, life, spirituality, and the importance of positive social change.
Hava's muse first visited her at the age of nine. While growing up in a violent home, she turned to songwriting to deal with the pain. At sixteen, she picked up a guitar for the first time and began to explore her abilities as a songwriter more fully.
After discovering the anti-war music of the 60's and 70's, Hava found a new direction for her voice. "I realized a lot as a teenager, so I had a tendency to put a message of light or a spiritual approach into my songs. I always felt there was some deeper meaning in life I was connected with."
With an interest in the relationship between holistic health and music, she studied Music Therapy at The State University of New York at New Paltz. "It spoke through a different aspect of my personality," she says. "Music Therapy is a pathway to healing that can act on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels simultaneously."
While cultivating her knowledge of the therapeutic uses of music, she developed her skills as a singer/songwriter and producer, creating several demos before the independent release of her 2006 debut, RISE. RISE is an artistic statement of conscience calling for an end to war and a growing awareness of our environmental responsibility.
Hava has been a featured artist at the The United Nations, and represents the international NGO Pathways to Peace, a non-profit that promotes international peacebuilding through The Culture of Peace Initiative (www.cultureofpeaceinitiative.org) and
The International Day of Peace (www.internationaldayofpeace.org), September 21st of each year. She has performed at social justice events throughout the U.S. and the Middle East, where the song RISE has been called an anthem for Israeli/Palestinian coexistence.
Hava has shared the stage with Michael Franti and Spearhead, Matisyahu, Richie Havens, Melvin Seals (Jerry Garcia Band), Derek Trucks, Jen Durkin, and Deep Banana Blackout. She has performed at NYC's Madison Square Garden, The Apollo Theater, The Rainbow Room, and venues throughout the U.S. and abroad.
