Alien Soap Opera was formed in the summer of 1993 in Cairo, Egypt. Greg Hunter was in Cairo recording an album with the band Killing Joke when he met Amir Abdel Magid who was recording in the same studio. One night Magid asked Hunter to do a mix of a track. He agreed, the mix went well, and in the morning Magid and Hunter decided to form a band which they later named Alien Soap Opera. They produced several singles for compilations Asia Lounge - Asian Flavoured Club Tunes, Asian Vibes, and MIDItation and released one full-length CD in 1999, Second Wave and an EP, Voladores.
