Traditional Musician & Compositor Morteza Esmaili is a traveller and sound explorer. Born in 1964 in Tehran (Iran), he plays jews harp since 8 years old. With 16 years old, he started to travel all over the world looking for harmonic sounds and traditional & sacred music. During this trip, he came across a lot of people and music. In 1992, he was introduced to Didgeridoo where he found what he was looking for: the same harmony as Jews Harp. From 1992 to 1995, Morteza lived in Japan where he tested the mix between electronic sounds and Jews Harp.

Morteza Esmaili and Madjid Khaladj founded a band called ASTRAGA?A. In 2005, he went to Australia to produce a DVD about Aboriginal culture, presenting both painting and music. He took part of Garma Festival, one of the biggest Australian Aboriginal meetings, where he played with Aboriginal artists such as Nicky Yunupingu.
In 2006, it is the year full of projects for Morteza with his solo album released on MAGUARI Productions label. This album is a meeting of traditional sounds featuring musicians from all over the world (Argentina, Australia, France, Iran, Japan, Kalmouky?) with a range of instruments (Daf, Didgeridoo, Dombra, Jews Harp, Kena, Shakuhachi, Sikus?).
