Alexi Tuomarila Trio

Alexi Tuomarila (b. 1972) is a finnish jazz pianist. The regular line-up of his trio consists of finnish drummer Olavi Louhivuori and norwegian bass player Mats Eilertsen. With this line-up, the trio released album Constellation in 2006. Alexi Tuomarila started playing piano at the age of 4 with the Suzuki Method and went to study classical piano at the Espoo Music Institute, Finland (1980-1992). The jazz bug bit him after being introduced to his fathers record collection.

The jazz bug bit him after being introduced to his fathers record collection. After completing upper secondary school, he went to study at the Oulunkyl? Pop & Jazz Conservatory of Helsinki, Finland (1993-1994). After a year at the Conservatory he moved to Belgium to study at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, Departement of Jazz & Commercial Music (1994-1999). There he studied with pianists Diederik Wissels and Nathalie Loriels and obtained his Master of Music Degree in September 1999.
