Linda Draper's earliest musical infuence was classical guitar, which she first heard from her father Fred Draper, an accomplished classical guitarist who in his youth, studied with Andres Segovia. Linda discovered her musical voice singing in the church choir when she was around 12 years old. This led to her learning guitar and writing her own songs just a few years later. Linda's first public performances took place in local venues around town, inlcuding the Renaissance Faire in upstate New York.
After moving away from the suburbs and into the city of New York in 1999, Linda continued to hone in on her skills as a songwriter and a performer. Inspired by the musical luminaries of both of the past and present, over the years, Draper has managed to carve out a sound that is both timeless and unique. Her musical journey has led her to tour the US, the UK and Paris, performing in countless music festivals along the way such as the Athens Popfest (Athens, GA), The Campfire Festival (Cambridge, MA), the Antifolk Festival and the CMJ Music Marathon (New York City).
Linda recorded her debut album "Ricochet" (2001) with indie-icon producer Kramer (Low, Ween, Galaxie 500, Urge Overkill, Lou Reed). Their partnership would continue with her next three Long Players: 2002's ?Snow White Trash Girl,? 2003's ?Patchwork,? and her debut LP with Planting Seeds Records, ?One Two Three Four?. In 2007 Linda co-produced her next LP ?Keepsake? with Major Matt Mason at Olive Juice Music Studios. In 2009, she returned with her 6th LP, called "Bridge and Tunnel", produced by Brad Albetta.
Over the years, Linda has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Regina Spektor, Teddy Thompson, Kimya Dawson, Jeffrey Lewis, Amy Correia, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Jesse Malin, Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing) and Theresa Andersson among others. She has performed live and has had her music played on numerous radio stations including: WFMU, WNYC and WBAI (east coast) and KXLU, KFJC and KDVS (west coast). Currently residing in Brooklyn, NY, Linda Draper is now recording her 7th album with Matt Keating which is scheduled to be released in 2013.
