Jimmy Buffett meets Gloria Estefan - that's how fans describe Latitude's combination of well-crafted lyrics, contagious melodies, and great vocals. And that's just their original music!
Armed with an arsenal of over 500 songs, it seems like there's nothing this group can't do! From Jimmy Buffett to Janice Joplin, and from James Taylor to James Brown, Latitude provides an always refreshing "Latitude Adjustment", that combines the beach, dance and party favorites that will make even a toe tapper want to join the conga line!
The pair met as songwriters in Nashville, TN, and discovered the unique chemistry that led to marriage and the creation of Latitude!
Here's their story:
Tom Becker (guitar/vocals) ? The guitar playing half of Latitude is no stranger to music! As a member of the "New Christy Minstrels", the group that launched the careers of John Denver and Kenny Rogers, Tom toured the world, demonstrating his unique brand of music and homespun humor. After leaving the "Christies", Tom went on to a solo career whose highlights include opening for such artists as Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jerry Lee Lewis and Ray Charles.
Tom says, "The biggest thrill as a part of Latitude is looking out in the audience and seeing our friends singing along to our original songs. It's the best feeling in the world to be a part of something that brings people together and has them leaving feeling better than when they came in."
Michelle Becker (keyboard/vocals) ? Chances are you've seen the keyboard playing half of Latitude before! She has opened for Motown's Coasters, Drifters, and Platters. Country music fans may have seen her performing with Brenda Lee, Louise Mandrell, Lee Greenwood, Jim Ed Brown, Larry Gatlin, or as a performer on the Grand Old Opry. She has opened for comedian Bill Cosby, has appeared in several TV commercials and music videos, and her voice can be heard on a variety of radio jingles.
Michelle says, "Being a part of Latitude is the most fun I've ever had! Our shows are more like a social event, a get together of all of our friends. The amazing thing is, the circle of friends just keeps GROWING!
Since making their home in Myrtle Beach, SC in 1995, Latitude performs mainly throughout the Southeast, but their music has taken them as far west as Hawaii, as far south as the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, and to an altitude of 10,000 feet in the Colorado Rockies! They are the first Carolina Beach Music act to ever perform in Switzerland.
You can never be sure where these two will turn up next, but you can be sure it will be a PARTY!
A favorite of vacationers, locals, and corporate groups large and small, Latitude is bringing their high-energy show to an ever-increasing crowd of loyal listeners who can't wait for their next "Latitude Adjustment"!
