Kate Peterson is Lansing's voice. Weathered, personal, lyrical, and unashamed, Kate is one half of the duo Nervous But Excited with Sarah Cleaver. As a solo artist, Kate cut her teeth in humid backyards and clamorous coffee shops, hewing a thick folk groove through the industrial midwestern town that serves as backdrop -- and often metaphor -- for her unflinching and painterly explorations of relationships and interpersonal politics.

An accomplished guitarist with a fluent, rhythmic vocabulary, Kate's songs are accessible without being easy. Melodies and deft, tumbling wordplay camouflage psychic terrain that offers warmth to the honest yet suffers no fools or charlatans.
