Kata says she can't remember the first time she sang on stage, but does remember her father telling this story: at the age of two, she threw a FIT asking to be entered in a beauty contest, so she could "sing" in the Talent category. He agreed to put up the $50 entry fee to prove to her that she couldn't sing. He had no idea what he was in for ... she ended up winning that contest, going on and winning the National Title "Little Miss Southern Belle" or something like that.
Over time an interest in modeling fell to the side, and music became her main focus: for over 13 years her parents drove her across the US, and twice even flew with her across the world to Australia, just to help her pursue her music. Also over time, she discovered the love of being a musician, and songwriter. Songwriting especially became incredibly important to her. Her dream is to rock on a huge stage to her songs along with thousands of people in the audience singing along. She knows that if she believes hard enough, anything can happen! ... yes she's watched a LOT of Disney movies.
About 4 years ago she met the bass player, Robbie Helton, who became her husband, co-writer, and ... her bass player. They decided to start working towards playing in a band together, where she could play her songs, and he could play some funky bass!!! What they wanted was no more rules, just music that you feel.
Robbie and Kata were lucky enough to find a talented drummer, Jason Roller, Matt Leadbetter who rips up the lap steel, and Dobro, and so they became "Kata & The Blaze".
