Originally formed in 2005, out of the ashes of two separate bands, The Nation and Blu's Redroom, KARAUS + exiles of the nation has performed at various clubs & venues in Metro Atlanta to rave reviews. Founded by its main songwriter/producer and frontman, former Apollo Theater winner Kenyon Ross (Karaus), a.k.a. Victor McKoy, the band & its accompanying studio material fuses funk, rock, hip-hop & soul with elements of pop, jazz & sometimes reggae.
The band's sound is collectively known as "EXILEMUSIK". The band's original lineup from 2005 to early 2008 consisted of KARAUS, Imari Adams, Calvin Kind & Greg Washington, with additional musicians, most relevantly Rev. Willie Dynomite, Chill, Andrae Jenkins & Craig Strand.
In 2006, Karaus + Exiles Of The Nation released their first independent album, "TAYLOR ROAD" on iTunes and cdbaby.com under STRATAGEM MUSIC MEDIA, LLC., a company KARAUS & Stoni Taylor co-founded. In 2007,
Karaus changed his main stagename to victorMCKOY, & recorded his most popular album "ESCAPE FROM TRAP CITY!!!", which came out in January 2008.
The original lineup played its final show @ Lenny's Bar that same month, and the band temporarily disbanded in June 2008.
After the "disintegration" album in late 2008, Victor Mckoy took a minor break until the spring of 2009, when he started recording again heavily. Now recording under Karaus again, he reformed Exiles Of The Nation in late 2010 with a new lineup & a new secondary name, The ExileMusikMob. The new band lineup performed & recorded a mini-concert on the Youtube webshow "Live From The Atl" in December 2010.
In January 2011, Karaus launched their new Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Exiles-Of-The-Nation/366392267086?ref=ts and a new page at Bandcamp.com: http://theexilemusikmob.bandcamp.com ,where fans and music lovers can download free ExileMusik.
The band released their new album "There Is No Escape" and re-released 2008s "Escape From Trap City" in May 2011 on http://theexilemusikmob.bandcamp.com
