Jimmy Jansson is a Swedish singer. Jansson's career began when he started a band with his friends in 2002 called The Poets. They were selected to enter Melodifestivalen that year with the song "What Difference Does It Make", however, they did not reach the finals. The following year, Jansson was a contestant on Swedish reality show Fame Factory. Like many other popular Swedish artists, he did not win but went on to have a number of successful singles. The first was "Godmorgon världen", which was released in 2004 and reached #2 on the Swedish charts.

In 2005, Jansson took part in Melodifestivalen again, this time with the song "Vi kan gunga". This time, as a solo singer, Jansson reached the finals and finished 6th overall. When released as a single later in the year, the song became Jansson's most successful song as it reached the #1 spot on the charts. Jansson's second album was then released, titled "Som en blixt".
Two years later, Jansson returned to Melodifestivalen with the up-tempo number "Amanda". Just before the contest began, Jansson's partner, Sandra Dahlberg, gave birth to the couple's first child, a boy named Wilmer. This time Jansson finished =3rd in his semi final and proceeded to "Andra chansen", the second chance round of Melodifestivalen. Ultimately, he lost out in his duel to Sanna Nielsen's "Vågar du, vågar jag".
