Bio from myspace.com/ishesafe: isHesafe is emerging as a prominent player in the Nashville Rock scene. Brothers Adam and Ben Smith began writing music together as teenagers in Chicago and with the addition of fellow Chicago-native Nate Onstott and guitarist John Stizza formed isHesafe at Nashville's own Belmont University in September of 2004. Now in their twenties, and each member pulling personal influences from every style of rock music, isHesafe speaks, and sometimes screams conviction.
isHesafe is emerging as a prominent player in the Nashville Rock scene. Along with playing popular Nashville venues like Exit/In, RCKTWN, 12th and Porter, isHesafe has played in Chicago, Alabama, and Kentucky.
With their independent release "We're Not Climbing Up A Mountain", isHesafe has proven that aggressive yet melodic rock music with meaningful lyrics truly does have a place in today's society. With people comparing their music to that of Incubus, Mae, and mewithoutYou one can see where that blend may come from.
?When people listen to our music, and then meet us and look at our lives I want them to hear and see themes of redemption, reconciliation, honesty, and humility,? says lyricist/multi-instrumentalist Adam Smith.
?Sometimes it's very thoughtful, ?thinking-man's' music; where at other times, our goal is to just make you dance around or bang your head. However, at the same time, we will never compromise content for rhyme or rhythm. The content of the songs' words is just as important to us, if not more so,? explains guitarist John Stizza.
isHesafe's live performance has each member of the band playing at least two instruments, from guitars and keyboards to synthesizers and even a Theremin. In terms of the band's interesting approach to writing drummer Nate Onstott describes that, ?[We want to] do this without falling into a stale, lifeless format that pollutes most music today.?
In a society where musicians are simply trying to replicate other popular bands, isHesafe is trying to do the opposite. As bassist Ben Smith says, ?We pull elements from an array of diverse, sometimes seemingly conflicting, influences and try to synthesize something different - something that can't be pigeonholed into 'Hey, you guys sound like (insert band here).'?
Each member of the band is or was a student of Belmont's accredited Mike Curb School of Music Business so each knows the tricks of the trade. However, isHesafe is not concerned with making money. Adam states, ?My last concern is ?making it' in the music industry.?
?My vision is that isHesafe continues to be isHesafe no matter what music is popular, and no matter what others say we should be,? exclaims Nate.
With a Murfreesboro college radio station introducing isHesafe to the airwaves with the song ?Real, Cold, And Bright,? a new EP in the works, and an Eastern U.S. tour, isHesafe will be spreading their music and their message to the world with energy and confidence.
