Born in Uruguay, Ignacio Rodriguez began playin guitar at 8 years old. He was tutored by the famous Uruguayan classical guitarist Robert Ravera. In his early teens Rodriguez moved to New York City with his family. He attended the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. There he studied with Federico Vasquez, a disciple of Cuban great Albert Blain. Blain had studied with the legendary Andres Segovia. In 2006 Rodriguez recorded some of his favorite compositions at Cyclone Sound studios in New York City. These included works by J.
. Bach, Francisco Tarrega, and Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos.
