December 2003, Andrew Ulicki and Dario Hudon-Verrelli meet through mutual friends under the another project for a short time. They meet again the following spring to jam out ideas from their solo works and together create Ahnabith Gish.
Ulicki brings Dwayne Alhakone on board who brings in Chris Webb, the 4 create a demo that year which is subsequently destroyed in it's digital form, none of the remaining tracks contain the final versions; no raw tracks were salvaged.
Band plays all of two shows before Alhakone leaves the project in the fall of 2005 as does Webb.
Fact: All members of Ahnabith Gish, past and present, attended the second show.
November of 2005, Aaron MacInnis joins the project and brings in Masashi Hisataka.
Within 3 months, project learns of Masashi's looming departure to Japan, pulling all resources, band records an ep in Ulicki's bedroom with the help of a friend of a friend's brother, also known as The Indy Army Network.
On the eve of the ep release show, the cpu containing the raw tracks crashes and all is lost, quick demo versions are distributed in lieu of the final masters.
After re-establishing the tracks to their former glory another fatal crash claims all the raw tracks and the band is left with nothing. Yet somehow, miraculously, early versions of the ep are found floating on a server. The band pulls away from the prospect of properly releasing the ep due to it's curse.
During this time Hisataka returns to Japan and is replaced by Benjamin Middleton who is not a bassist. Learning the ep in 2 weeks and plowing through a summer of shows he becomes an integral part of the project immediately.
After consideration, the band brings the tracks to TPM Records and has them re-worked and mastered for the 4th time. All is finally balanced in the universe.
1 year to the day, May 4th 2007, the ep is finally sold at a show.
After a tumultuous ride, Aaron MacInnis calls it quits in the spring of 2007 to pursue his solo career. Cian Haley, an old friend of the band's joins and solidifies the lineup for good, helping to write the 2nd album, an amalgamation of the past and present sound of Ahnabith Gish.
The band is now complete.
In the Spring of 2008 the band goes to Mark Senicki [of former TPM glory] to record 14 tracks of material. Where it takes 5 months [from April to August] to record, mix and master the album.
The prospect of a summer tour is unfortunately scratched due to the timing of the album's recording and Haley's health, and it is decided to concentrate on the album, it's goal and the health of their friend.
By September the universe is once again aligned and the release of Ahnabith Gish's album seems at hand.
All hail the spider monkeys!
