Behind the concept
Sinestetic Jazz is a good example of new jazz vibes and offers a young, fresh but precise sound with a clear understanding of its musical direction.
The synestethesia can involve any of the senses and it can be defined as an emotional experience which causes a confusion of the senses. Is it possible to taste a colour? To touch a smell? And can you see the sound of the music? With this meaning, Gianni Bardaro tries to translate the synestetic experience into music.
He is interested in adopting the emotional atmosphere in music, to create an overflow of a strong energy. The "Overflow" would then provoke and lead a conscious confusion of the senses, towards which the music is not just heard but even seen, touched, smelled and tasted.
With Sinestetic Jazz, Bardaro focus mostly on original compositions.
Technically, he uses the compositional parameters of electronic music, in particular he is interested in the exploration and evolution of the concept of "loop" translated into acoustic music. The main compositional influence remains jazz with shadows of Latin, Mediterranean and Scandinavian sounds.
One of the most important points of Sinestetic Jazz is the Improvisation Moment of each soloist. It can be considered the ?breath of the escaping moment? where a clear and distinctive sound is communicated with emotion through unconventional colourful improvisations. A contagious energy is generously spread out with imagination and passion, whether in a meditative mood or a playful one.
