West Coast guitarist/vocalist GG Amos has been performing for most of her life, specifically in American blues and related genres for 30 years. Focusing currently on original blues, r&b & soul jazz, GG & her group are also known for unique arrangements of classic covers. Her reputation has been steadily growing as a riveting performer with a distinctive, expressive style. She counts Carlos Santana, Johnny Guitar Watson, Magic Sam and Kenny Burrell as major guitar influences.
As a vocalist, her influences have been many but she says she learned more about expression, timing and phrasing from the great Louis Armstrong than any other singer.
GG has shared the stage with such legends as John Lee Hooker, Guitar Shorty, Jimmy McCracklin, Lowell Fulson, Johnnie Heartsman, Karen Lawrence and Duffy Bishop. She's also shared bills with KokoTaylor, Sista Monica, Elvin Bishop and Tower of Power vocalist Lenny Williams, among others.
In 1997, GG released her debut CD ?Gotts Ta Go?. Her soon to be released single, ?West Coast?, is a tribute to the late Johnny Heartsman, with lyrics by Amos and music by long-time collaborator and keyboardist, Taki Komori.
An energetic cover of a blues classic "Feel So Good (I Wanna Boogie)" is also available.
Originally from Sacramento, CA, GG now makes her home in San Francisco.
