The band features Scott "Gub" Conway on vocals/guitar (Even in Blackouts, Red Villain, Screeching Weasel), Kevin J. Frank on guitar/vocals (Haymarket Riot, Traluma, the Sky Corvair), Neil Sandler on bass/vocals (Rollo Tomasi, Traluma, the Sky Corvair) and Ryan Rapsys on drums (Euphone, Amazing Baby, Owls).

1) Gauge was a post-hardcore/emo band from Chicago that formed from the ashes of Ivy League and Target in 1991. The band features Scott "Gub" Conway on vocals/guitar (Even in Blackouts, Red Villain, Screeching Weasel), Kevin J. Frank on guitar/vocals (Haymarket Riot, Traluma, the Sky Corvair), Neil Sandler on bass/vocals (Rollo Tomasi, Traluma, the Sky Corvair) and Ryan Rapsys on drums (Euphone, Amazing Baby, Owls). They were highly regarded in Chicago's northwest and western suburban punk scenes in the early '90s. They inspired and performed with other acts from the same area such as Cap'n Jazz, Friction, Sidekick Kato and Braid, until their breakup in 1994. Gauge was known for their intense, cathartic performances, which combined power and melody.

Over the course of several regional tours and two U.S. tours in the early to mid '90s, the band shared the stage with groups such as, Green Day, Jawbox, Jawbreaker, Avail, Smoking Popes, Born Against, Screeching Weasel, Kerosene 454, All, Los Crudos, Lungfish, Pegboy, Shudder to Think and Trenchmouth.

They released two full-length albums: ?Soothe? in 1992 on THD/Radius Records and ?Fire Tongue Burning Stomach? in 1994 on Underdog Records. In 1995, Actionboy Records released a posthumous 10? titled "43". The first half of their catalog was released on CD by Tree Records in 2000, this is known as "Gauge : I". The second half of their catalog was released on March 6, 2010 on Shakefork Records, this is known as "Gauge : II".

In August 2009 the band decided to reunite and in December 2009 entered Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, IL with Greg Norman to record a new song and updated versions of older material. These recordings were released on March 6, 2010 as "Mints" a 2-song 7" with a code for a 4-song digital download on Shakefork Records. The band played live for the first time in almost 16 years on March 4, 2010 at Ronny's in Chicago, IL and followed with a performance at Bay View Brew Haus in Milwaukee, WI on March 5, 2010. An official reunion show was played at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago, IL on March 6, 2010.

Gauge is often mentioned in the same breath with bands like Indian Summer, Hoover and Current, which influenced a crop of bands that came out of the mid to late '90s Midwestern post-hardcore/emo scene.

2) GAUGE is a hip-hop artist. The senselessness of Hip-Hop has given birth to a new movement and a new type of artist. GAUGE (David Veira) the ?ill-talented' emcee, has embarked on a new venture that promises to put the sense back into Hip-Hop as he reps for the working class.

GAUGE's positive spin on real-life situations has gained him both street credibility and industry attention. Being a native of Flatbush, Brooklyn, there is no doubt that his hip-hop roots run deep. His lyrical and rhyming skills were seasoned by his Trinidadian heritage as well as legendary schoolyard battles on his home turf.

GAUGE's unique flavor sparked the attention of media such as but not limited to ?On Deck Demo Reviews? and ?Rap Pages? in addition to a feature in The Source's Unsigned Hype column.

Noticed at an open mic event by Maestro Fresh Wes, (the legendary Canadian emcee) Gauge later toured with him throughout the United States and Canada.

3) Another band called Gauge existed between 1998 and 2005. They were a Michigan-based metalcore band consisting of Chris Herr, Brian Gorecki, Justin Sayers, Adam Reno, and Seth Brasil



4. Gauge UK

After returning from Switzerland and his extensive work with distorto-rock trio 16-17 for Digital Hardcore Recordings, Damian meets Ben, and after discovering a mutual love of Rachels and Caustic Window, form Gauge. This is 1996. They need a drummer, so Ben coerces his girlfriend Flo to play. She is reluctant to leave her lap-dancing job in the Digbeth quarter of Birmingham, but does so. So it was almost by chance that these three musical super-forces were joined to form the single gauge unit. But what a lucky chance.

As a 3-piece they record 'The Self Second' EP on Billy Reeves' (founder member of theaudience, dontcha know) Bright Recordings label. Somehow inheriting a spot in the prime of the Bristol 'scene', although how is not entirely clear.. they land themselves an album deal with the seminal but virtually non-existent Planet Records (of Bristol).

By the time 'The Gatehouse' comes out, Ben and Flo have left the band to open a florist in Wolvey, Near Hinckley.

Damian is also currently carthage and founder of the Twin Valley Falls label, as well as bassist for 16-17. He was also previously involved in collaborations with Techno Animal.
