Describe themselves as 'silly music, tiny band' but the fact is that Gat Tan Day is one of the most talented and well-known rockbands in Vietnam. The band was formed back in the early 90s and have been known since then for a very liberal style of music - a combination between alternative, classic rock and funk with witty, straight-to-your-face lyrics. None of the band members is professional musician, they all have their own job and to them, playing music is just the best way to get free and finding harmony.
Gat Tan Day released their debut album, Dam Cuoi Chuot (which means The Rat Wedding in English) in early 2006. The song Dam Cuoi Chuot itself took the inspiration from a Vietnamese old drawing of the same name.
This song is considered the most successful track in the album. It topped the Vietnamese Songs (Bai Hat Viet) chart in Oct 2006 (though many audiences was laughing the first time the band played) , and was No1 on XoneFM in May 2007.
