Gary's career so far.... 60s First big gig with Dusty Springfield, Lulu ('65),. This was followed by stint with Brian Auger and Julie Driscoll and album OPEN. Left for Leeds College Music. After college joined folk/rock band, Eclection. Re-joined Brian Auger & recorded album BEFOUR. 70's Gary began three years of studio work in London which included recording albums, radio and television jingles and film music.
70's Gary began three years of studio work in London which included recording albums, radio and television jingles and film music. During this period Gary worked on albums with Mike Westbrook, Mike Gibbs, Soft Machine, Norma Winstone and Keith Tippett. Other highlights include a season at Ronnie Scotts with Amercian sax player Eddie Harris, four albums with Japanese percusionist Stomu Yamashta and an album with Bert Jansch.
In 1973 Gary formed jazz fusion band Isotope who recorded three albums and toured extensively in the UK, Europe and the USA. Albums - ISOTOPE, ILLUSION, DEEP END.
After Isotope disbanded in 1975 Gary recorded several solo albums, THE DANCER, ELECTRIC GLIDE. During this period Gary was voted New Star in the Melody Maker Poll and THE DANCER won the Pop/Jazz Award at Montreaux Jazz Festival.
80-81 Gary lived in Copenhagen where he recorded two albums, STEPOUT, FRIDAY NIGHT AGAIN.
On returning from Denmark Gary formed the trio Triple Echo featuring the Roland Guitar Synth, and recorded album TRIPLE ECHO. Other artists Gary has toured the UK with include guitarists Jim Mullen, John Etheridge, German bass player Eberhard Weber and UK bass player Danny Thompson.
Since the mid 80's Gary has been heavily involved with teaching in the North West of England, including Nelson & Colne, Accrington & Rossendale, Wigan & Leigh College and the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (known as the Paul McCartney school!). Retired from teaching 2004.
