FOX Japan makes catchy rock songs that have things wrong with them. FOX Japan is Charlie Wilmoth, Andrew Slater, Sam Wilmoth and Pete Wilmoth. Charlie, Sam and Pete are all brothers (and Sam and Pete are twins). Andrew is a high-school friend of the Wilmoths. FOX Japan has existed under various names since 1993, but the average age of its members is still only 22. After what critic Jim Santo called "a brilliant burst of homemade recordings," the band recorded its new EP in June 2005 in Morgantown, West Virginia.

The band will release another EP in early 2007.
FOX Japan toured the east coast and midwest in Winter 2005/2006 and June 2006. They (and by "they" I mean "we," as it's no secret who's writing this) rock live, and they're funny to look at because the Wilmoth brothers are all very tall and pale and Andrew looks nothing like any of them.
"Built to Spill meets Weezer vibe." - San Diego CityBeat
"Some really well-developed music with a melancholy, biting humor... The lyrics are all pretty intimate, dealing with loan sharks and over indulging in modern convenience and living needlessly complex lives, and taking on the corporate mono-culture and evangelical Christians... These guys are a blast." -Sceneless
"The songs on [FOX Japan's] EP bring the best of both worlds to listeners. They have the intelligence and quirkiness characteristic of indie music but are also just as catchy as the songs that loop on commercial radio." -Lexington (VA) Trident
"Smart and surprisingly sophisticated indie-rock... They... recorded more good music in their teens than most of the jokers I review will in their entire lives." -Demo Universe
"One listen to Fully Operational X Japan's self-titled album and it's obvious that the Wilmoth brothers have a musical bond." -Morgantown (WV) Daily Athenaeum
