Fishing for Comets is a four-piece band from Dallas, Texas that is known for their sunny songwriting, smart lyrics and captivating vocals. At the 2005 & 2006 Dallas Observer Music Awards the band won the award for Best Folk Acoustic act and received a nomination for Best Female Vocalist (Camille Cortinas) three years in a row. 2006 has seen the release of the bands first full length album "Scattered Among the Archipelago", recorded b Chris Machart at Purple Pear Studios and mixed by Derek Taylor.

The album looks at the marriage of inspiration, and art and how the two can change a person's life. "We are Like Water" is featured in the film "Float", winner at the SoCal Independent Film Festival, and the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.
In 2007 Camille Cortinas hosted a documentary celebrating music and art in Dallas Texas. Fishing for Comets was featured in the documentary and their music provided the soundtrack. 2008 the band performed "Lies" live on television talk show "The Gordon Keith Show" which can be seen to the left.
