Faraway Project is the stage name of Finnish artist Sami Saari. Sami got introduced to computer based music when he was eleven years old. His brother brought home the fantastic Fast Tracker 1. The next 12 years went by playing around with audio software. The musical style has varied from punk to drum n' bass. In the summer of 2002 Sami started to really get in to melodic trance and decided to really examine this style more accurately. Luckily in this miraculous world of ours, accidents do happen.
Late in the year 2002 a track called Changes was born and caught the eye of a small finnish indie label EMT Design more accurately its GM Jouni Matero. Changes quickly got even some support on finnish national radio YleX on its dance night program. Sami sent more tracks to EMT and Jouni started promoting the tracks to bigger labels. There began the wild licensing extravaganza and during 2003-2005 Sami released 7 tracks plus various remixes on different labels around the world including Vandit, Afterglow, Duty Free, Discover Dark, Lost Language and Monster Tunes. Samis most popular tracks Floor Control and Without Fear also got great compilation support.
Just as Sami should have started to milk the melodic trance cow, struck the big chrisis of wanting to produce something else than basic melodic trance for a change. Sami hit a big wall productionwise and he needed to start studying producing on a wider scale so that the skill to produce a different sound would be possible.
