Evan Belize

Evan Belize comes from the heart of the Caribbean. Born and raised in Belize, once the British Honduras, Evan has played with the best.known Belizean artists. As a young artist, he was taken under the wing of the great solo prformer Joseph Wagner. His first recording, on an album called Sunshine Wonder, won a Battle of the Bands conest in 1973. From there he went on to perform around the Caribbean in places like Panachel, recording advertisements, for products including Belize Belikan beer.

Although he performs with many known artists and bands, and has had his own band, Earth Forces, Evan enjoys solo performance.

Evan's music has its roots in traditional African and Caribbean rhythms, out which grew his own personal Ring-Ting Riddem! Compare him to Peter Tosh, Calypso Rose, Lord Rhaburn, Wilfred Peters, Harry Belafonte, Albert Gill... and find him new and different. Evan describes himself as a musical farmer, ?I plant my music in the brain/cultivate it in the mind, body & soul...? You will find in his work elements of many styles from brukdon to calypso to soca to reggae to punta to boom an' shine, even funky blue.
