Down River

One of two: (1) Down River has quickly emerged as one of the North Carolina Piedmont's premiere bluegrass bands. The group has cultivated a traditional bluegrass sound that transports folks to a simpler time and place. Listeners will enjoy the sweet and soulful vocals of Hope Marasco. Hope grew up on a small farm without electricity or running water where making music by candlelight was her family's favorite pastime.

Because she was not raised listening to recorded music, her vocal shaping and high lonesome sound are uniquely her own. With solid bluegrass instrumentation from the guitar, mandolin, banjo, and bass, Down River will keep your toes tapping and your face smiling! (2) Originally from Ballarat but now based in Melbourne, DOWNRIVER are a strange mix of 4 individuals all expressing their devotion to the church of the almighty riff. The timeline so far - PART ONE: In 2001 a cd is recorded as a 3-piece...the idea was to just rock out and maybe never even play a gig. PART TWO: In January 2006 the original drummer becomes a 2nd guitarist and a new drummer steps in. PART THREE: August 2006, a gig happens and a legend is born. PART FOUR: October 2007 a new cd is being recorded and the legend begins to spread.............................................PART FIVE:????WATCH THIS SPACE and be prepared for more gigs.
