There are at least two bands using the name Dormant. 1) DORMANT is the newest project from God is Myth label owner and former UVALL proprietor Todd Paulson. He decided to move away from the somewhat strict confines of a straight forward black metal project such as UVALL to concentrate on this more ambitious work. Combining aspects of black metal, heavy metal, rock and neo-folk, along with unusual song structures the results of the debut album make for a very earthly and organic experience.

This work also includes guests Andrew Curtis-Brignell (CAINA) who contributed lyrics and vocals to the opening track entitled "Black Ashes" as well as Tanner Anderson (CELESTIIAL) who plays hammered dulcimer on the title track.
Beneath the Mighty Oak is their 2007 full-length release.
2) Dormant is an underground black metal project from the Netherlands. Nain-Usar, the sole member, employs ambient and folk influences to soften the edge of his music and give it a dark, brooding atmosphere.
Dormant's first EP, "Consolamentum," was released in November of 2006 on Son of Man Records. A second EP titled "Alchemy" was loosely scheduled to be released on the same label sometime in the summer of 2007, but with Son of Man Records going out of business in February of 2007, the current release date and label are unknown.
