Dorian Spencer is independent artist making a living selling music to a worldwide audience. His music has been compared to Seal, Ben Harper and Jeff Buckley, yet his original style continues to hold as truly unique. With three independently produced CDs, frequent gigs in some of NYC's most renowned venues including Madison Square Garden, The Bitter End, and Arlene's Grocery, Dorian has amassed an impressive fan-base.
By popular vote, he won MSG Network's reality show that showcased some of NYC's best subway performers. He was also featured at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in their Emerging Artist Showcase and the Bodles Emerging Artist Series.
In 2000 Dorian traveled to New York looking to rekindle his love for theatre, but instead grew his passion for music. His original passion for writing and playing music surfaced with full force and he began to fine-tuned his guitaring skills. A year of touring the open-mic scene in New York City, led to legit performances in clubs as well as parties. While busking on the street, he recorded the four-song, acoustic EP, Seeds, with country music artist Matthew Broyels.
?I love playing music and all that goes with creating a song,? says Dorian. ?I only wish I had realized it earlier. Now, I just want to be a great songwriter who addresses real life, even if it's just from my own weird point of view.?
Dorian has a style all his own. Any combination of alternative, rock, and pop you can think of, Dorian has at least one song that fits the bill. ?I say listen for yourself, and define me for yourself. A struggle always ensues anytime someone tries to box me up!?
