Included on this collection are the assorted misfits, squalid toads, freak aberrations, and Godless creations that make their own communities squeal in terror, gathered in one place to serve the purpose of turning the world upside down. Or maybe just to rock the Hell out of it.

For years, GraveWax Records has festered in the absence of sunlight; a blind, unclean fungoid abscess. But now we're expanding like a virus and creeping across the world, sucking up the sickest, most degenerate rock and roll out there for your aural displeasure.

So take your penicillin shot and brace your lame ass for some of the most malignant rock and roll the world has ever seen. We'll see you on the other side.

Gravewax Records, a newer record label that falls into Horror/Rocka/Psychobilly category has released a most prestigious compilation entitled, Yells From The Crypt. Though I am not very familiar with any of the bands on the disc, it's evident from the righteous tunes that they've contributed, that they're all on their merry way to becoming sensations in the underground scene.

Yells From The Crypt is packed with twenty tracks that range between straight up Country & Western, Surf, Psychobilly and Bluegrass! The Creepkniks, who call Gravewax Records home, get the comp off to a good start with some good ole swampy, horror-infested madness on "Shadow Over Elkhart". The vocals in this track are priceless, you just gotta hear it. The next tune to get the sickly blood in my body flowing is "Among the Pines", which appears courtesy of Those Poor Bastards, who are also signed to Gravewax. This track sounds like a rotting, undead Johnny Cash came back from the grave one more again to bless us with another fabulous country death song. The Route 66 Killers also get the surf party up and going with a blistering instrumental entitled "Murder On Beaver Street". I'm reminded deeply of the greats, Jan & Dean and also legendary The Ventures. The "Killers" are another fiendishly great band signed to Gravewax. You'll also find a gritty, distorted Rockabilly tune called "Blood On the Grill" from Alex Machine. On this track, I'm hung up between early Cramps and Deadbolt and that's always a good feeling - specifically, when the tune is about a murderjunkie, who happens to be a car! The Coffin Daggers and Gein And The Graverobbers add more than a fair share of Dick Dale like Surf Rock chaos with their tracks "Psychonaut" and "The Hungry Grave".

All of the backwoods hillbillies who enjoy the good ole comfort of traditional and early Country music, will surely appreciate Rainer Hass and his track, "Packin' Heat At The Speakeasy". Speaking of traditional Country, how could you not talk about Bluegrass music! Yep, a band by the name of Colonel Sander's Grave contributes their "Theme" song, either you slice it, it's AWESOME! It's like an undead intro to Green Acres or Beverly Hillbillies. Good, good stuff, except it doesn't last nearly long enough. The track that gets my vote for best on the comp would have to be Sons Of Perdition. Little is known about these gents except they're on the Gravewax roster. All you need to know is that their song, "Anhelo" is a cross between Nick Cave and Voltaire and is absolutely spinetingling! It's one of the best "Murder Ballads" I've heard since Nick Cave's "Henry Lee". I strongly suggest you seek this band out at all costs.

While there are several other tunes on this disc that'll have you slappin' them knees and tappin' them toes; the few I've mentioned here is enough to have you knockin' over liqour stores and graverobbin' in order to pick this up. For the first time in '06, the undead country boy in me has been awakened: God help you all!!
