Strong acoustic base and occasional soft-rock overlays, along with a very poetic lyrical style .
Bio / Background
The Tulips are the very talented writing team of Carl Hedley and Mike Brimfield, joined by Natalie Hall and Pete Franks.
Joined also on this collection by Benny on percussion and the multi-instrumental talents of their producer John Perkins.
The maturity of their writing skills can be heard very clearly through songs like 'Written In the Sand' and 'The Ocean Song,' and it is very refreshing to find young people(their average age when they started recording the songs in this collection was just seventeen) with a feel for music that is real, as opposed to much of the synthesized pulp that is dished up in the pop world these days.
The influences of Bob Dylan and Nick Drake are easy to hear and their sense of the 'poetic' is evident throughout the album.
The following they have developed in a short time is testament to the love of 'roots' music that still exists very strongly throughout their native UK and even more so in the USA.
↓ more ↓We hope you enjoy this album for it's unpretentious return to 'roots' music and that it will become a standard by which a new generation of writers can be judged.
